 Ladies Bunco

The next BUNCO is scheduled for Friday August 15, 7:00 pm at Su Attaway’s House.  EVERYBODY in the neighborhood (as long as you’re female!) is invited.  We even have a few ladies that come from other neighborhoods, so if anyone has a friend that would like to come, that would be just fine. We usually try for the 2nd or 3rd Friday of each month. For more information, contact Sherri Fletcher at swfletcher@bellsouth.net

 Watering Ban Reminders

Yay! We're finally getting some much-needed rain! However, FORSYTH COUNTY REMAINS AT DROUGHT LEVEL 4. ALL OUTDOOR WATER USE IS PROHIBITED, EXCEPT FOR THE FOLLOWING:

Swimming Pools As of April 1, the filling of installed pools is permitted.

Hand Watering As of April 1, each household, business or other institution/property owner can hand water existing landscaping using one garden hose for 25 minutes a day within the hours of midnight to 10 a.m. on designated days. The hose must be hand held during watering and equipped with a standard spray nozzle that automatically turns off when not hand held.

Odd-numbered addresses (addresses ending with the number 1, 3, 5, 7 or 9) may hand water on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
Even-numbered addresses (addresses ending with the number 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 or no number) may hand water on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
No watering is allowed on Fridays.

Exemptions:

New Landscaping Those who successfully complete an Outdoor Water Use Registration Program are allowed to water newly installed landscape up to three days a week following the odd-even schedule for a period of ten weeks following planting. Program registrants learn proper watering techniques and the importance of water conservation. The Outdoor Water Use Registration Program is available online at www.urbanagcouncil.com.

To be eligible for this exemption, the landscaping should have been in place less than 30 days. The watering must occur on the designated odd-even days within the hours of midnight to 10 a.m. Odd-numbered addresses may water on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Even-numbered addresses may water on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Food Gardens Food gardens remain exempt from the water use restrictions.

Mandated Reduction
Governor Sonny Perdue’s mandate for a 10 percent water use reduction remains in effect. Forsyth County residents are reminded that water conservation remains imperative to the county meeting this reduction goal.

“It is very important for Forsyth County water customers to remain conservation-minded,” said Director of Water and Sewer Tim Perkins. “We are still required to meet the Governor’s mandate for reduction, so it is vital that all water customers continue water conservation measures.”

 Hail storm damage?

The severe weather on Mother's Day this year may have damaged your roof. However, don't count on being able to tell by "eyeballing it." Your roof may look perfectly fine and you may not see any water leaks, but that does not mean your roof is damage-free.

The only way to find out for certain is to have a roofing company do a free inspection, or to have your insurance company send an inspector. Homeowners have one year after the damage occurs to have an inspection and file a claim.

Many wonder if filing a claim will cause their insurance company to drop them or raise their rates. Unfortunately, everyone's rates will be rising a certain percentage in the hail damage area, regardless of whether or not you file a claim for your home. However, your insurance company, in most cases, cannot drop you. This is considered an "act of God" catastophe, which normally makes it against the law for insurers to drop policy holders.

Another area of concern for many is "fly by night" roofing companies that just open during these busy times, and do not have the experienced professionals you'd want working on your house. One way to find a reputable roofer is to ask your homeowner's insurance agent to suggest some. You can also get referrals from neighbors or friends who have had positive experiences.

Finally, do your own background check. Ask the roofer how long they've been in business, and whether they are a member of the National Roofing Contractor's Association, www.nrca.net. In addition, you can always check your company out through the Better Business Bureau.
